Notre Dame of Maryland University has named Kyle McGee head coach of its men’s basketball program, Director of Athletics Dr. Ashley Wagner announced Sept. 22, 2026. McGee becomes the second head coach in program history and succeeds TJ Jordan, who started the program in the 2023-24 season.
“We are excited to have Kyle lead the Notre Dame of Maryland men’s basketball program into its next chapter!” Wagner said. “Kyle stood out to us during this process due to his strong recruiting background and his commitment to culture building.”
McGee Takes Over Notre Dame of Maryland Men’s Basketball
The Gators went 3-19 during their debut season in 2023-24 before winning 16 games in each of the following two seasons. Notre Dame of Maryland reached the United East Conference Tournament championship in 2024-25.
McGee joins Notre Dame of Maryland after serving as an assistant coach at Division II Millersville for the previous two seasons. He helped the Marauders reach the PSAC Final Four and worked with Day Waters, the PSAC Eastern Division Player of the Year during the 2025-26 season.

McGee Brings Division II and Division III Experience
Before joining Millersville, McGee spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Division III Elizabethtown. During his tenure, Elizabethtown recorded its most conference wins since joining the Landmark Conference in 2010 and received two NABC Team of Academic Excellence awards.
McGee began his collegiate coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Lycoming College, helping the team reach the NCAA Tournament in 2020. He played at Elizabethtown after beginning his playing career at Centenary College in New Jersey and earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from King’s College.
McGee Outlines Vision for Notre Dame of Maryland
McGee said he wants Notre Dame of Maryland to build a lasting program that competes at the top of the United East Conference. He also emphasized academic achievement alongside on-court results.
“Our goal here is to build something that lasts. We want NDMU basketball to consistently compete at the top of the United East and eventually become a program that expects to compete for championships every year. At the end of the day, we want to stack diplomas and championships.”
McGee also described an aggressive style of play as part of his vision for the program. He said he wants the team to play fast, stay energized and make opponents uncomfortable while establishing a clear identity.
“On the court, I want us to be a team that people enjoy watching and our players enjoy being apart of. We’re going to play fast, be aggressive, be energized and be very aggressive making teams uncomfortable. We want people to know exactly what Notre Dame basketball is about when they watch us play.”
McGee said he is ready to begin building relationships with the team.
“I’m just ready to get started. I’m excited to meet with our guys, get on the court with them and start building relationships. There’s a lot of work ahead of us, but that’s the exciting part. I’m extremely thankful for this opportunity, and I’m ready to give everything I have to NDMU.”
