Notre Dame of Maryland University men’s soccer began the 2026 season with a 2-2 draw against Goucher on September 5 at Turf Field Sponsored by the SSNDs. The result marked Notre Dame of Maryland’s best-ever outcome against Goucher after three consecutive losses in the series.
Notre Dame of Maryland Men’s Soccer Rally After Halftime
Goucher took a 1-0 lead 30 minutes into the match, scoring immediately following a free kick. The Gophers carried that advantage into halftime, but Notre Dame of Maryland responded within the first 90 seconds of the second half.
Athanasios Ziliaskopolous assisted Maxime Baux on the equalizer, with Baux scoring from inside the box. Less than five minutes later, Ziliaskopolous drew a penalty and converted the ensuing kick to give Notre Dame of Maryland a 2-1 lead.
Goucher outshot Notre Dame of Maryland 15-9, while the Gators held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks. The teams combined for 29 fouls and five yellow cards, and each team recorded five shots on goal.
Goucher Ties Match With 22 Seconds Remaining
Notre Dame of Maryland held its lead for most of the second half, but Goucher found the equalizer with 22 seconds remaining. Jason Green-Adams scored his second goal of the match to make it 2-2.
Green-Adams scored both of Goucher’s goals. Mzwandile Honde and Alex Ruggles each recorded an assist for the Gophers.
