Norfolk Tides Weekly Recap Of 4-22 To 4-28

NORFOLK, Va. – The Triple-AAA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, the Norfolk Tides had a very successful week between Sunday, April 22nd to Saturday, April 28th.

For the week, the Tides went 5-2.  They improved their overall record to 11-7 and stand atop of the International League South standing.  Second place Durham Bulls (Tampa Bay Rays) is 1.5 games behind at 10-10.

GAME RESULTS FOR THE WEEK

Sunday, April 22nd – Won 6-1 vs Buffalo

Monday, April 23rd – Won 6-3 vs Lehigh Valley

Tuesday, April 24th – Postponed due to rain

Wednesday, April 25th – Lost 9-8 vs Lehigh Valley (game 1 of a doubleheader)

Wednesday, April 25th – Won 5-0 vs Lehigh Valley (game 2 of a doubleheader)

Thursday, April 26th – No game

Friday, April 27th – Lost 5-4 at Charlotte

Saturday, April 28th – Won 7-6 at Charlotte

OFFENSIVE LEADERS OF THE WEEK

OF Joey Rickard went 6 for 19 (.316 average) with 2 doubles, 1 triple, 4 RBIs, 4 runs scored and 3 BBs.  He did such a good job that the Orioles recalled him up for their Saturday’s night game against the Detroit Tigers.

2B Garabez Rosa was very productive at the plate this past week.  Besides going for 7 for 24 (.292 average), including a double and a home run with 5 RBIs.

PITCHING LEADERS OF THE WEEK

RHP David Hess recorded a victory (Saturday against Charlotte) in two starts, throwing 8.2 IP, giving up 6 hits, 1 ER, 5 BBs and 4 Ks.

LHP Jayson Aquino had the win on Tuesday vs Lehigh Valley, going 5 innings, giving up only 2 hits, 1 ER, 4 BBs and striking out four.

RHP Tim Melville also contributed with a win Wednesday in game 2 of a doubleheader against Lehigh Valley.  He went 5 1/3 innings, only allowing 4 hits, 0 ER, 2 BBs and 3 Ks.
