The No. 17 Stevenson University women’s field hockey team dominated from the start, opening the 2026 season on Sept. 1 with a 5-0 victory over Washington College (Md.) at Owings Mills East. Stevenson improved to 1-0, while Washington College dropped to 0-1.
Stevenson took command early, leading 2-0 after the first quarter and extending its advantage to 4-0 by halftime. The team sealed the shutout with an additional goal in the fourth quarter.
Martz and Catalano Score Twice
Tori Martz opened the scoring at 10:24 of the first quarter off an assist from Taylor Valoczki. Gracyn Catalano doubled the lead at 13:11 with an assist from Coco Wallace.
Catalano scored again early in the second quarter on a feed from Hailey Mertz. Sydney Aylward then added a goal assisted by Lauren Schulz, sending Stevenson into halftime with a 4-0 lead.
Martz capped the scoring in the final minute, assisted once more by Valoczki. Both Catalano and Martz finished with two goals and four points apiece, while Aylward recorded one goal and two points.
Stevenson Limits Washington College Opportunities
Stevenson registered 14 shots on goal, while Washington College failed to record any. Goalkeepers Jordan Vradenburgh and Ollie Winterle combined to keep a clean sheet.
Valoczki contributed two assists, with Wallace, Mertz, and Schulz each recording one assist in the season opener.
Stevenson to Host Arcadia Next
The No. 17 Mustangs are scheduled to host Arcadia University at noon on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Owings Mills East. This will be Stevenson’s second match of the 2026 season.
