No. 12 Salisbury University football team hosts Rowan University in NJAC Homecoming matchup

No. 12 Salisbury University football team hosts Rowan University on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Sea Gull Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland, for Homecoming and a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Salisbury enters the game with a 4-0 overall record and a 1-0 mark in NJAC play after defeating The College of New Jersey 21-9 on Oct. 3. Rowan University is 3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play after defeating Vermont State Castleton 79-0, setting program records for points in a game and largest margin of victory.

Salisbury University football team brings unbeaten record into matchup

Salisbury has outscored its opponents 142-32 through four games. The Sea Gulls average 35.5 points per game while allowing 8.0 points per contest. They have scored at least 21 points in every game this season while allowing no more than 13 in any contest.

Salisbury’s defense has allowed 960 total yards and 32 points while recording 12 sacks and forcing five turnovers. Linebacker Tyler Ohlmeyer leads the team with 36 tackles. Defensive back Dylan Lyerly has 35 tackles, one interception, two pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Defensive lineman Cole Ferrara leads Salisbury with three sacks. Nana Eshun-Baidoo has added two sacks and three tackles for loss. Salisbury has not lost a turnover this season.

Rowan University enters after record-setting victory

Rowan University posted a 79-0 victory over Vermont State Castleton on Oct. 3. The result set program records for points in a game and largest margin of victory.

Wide receiver Michael Zarfati had 190 receiving yards and three touchdowns on six catches in the victory. He has 26 receptions for 611 yards and eight touchdowns this season while averaging 152.75 all-purpose yards per game.

Quarterback Nate Maiers leads Rowan with 907 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. Tyshawn Bookman leads the Profs with 214 rushing yards, while Nunes Bukula IV has 194 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Rowan averages 257.8 passing yards and 406.8 total yards per game. The Profs have scored 136 points and allowed 35 through four games.

Run game, turnover margin shape Salisbury-Rowan matchup

Saturday’s game will be the 33rd meeting between Salisbury University and Rowan University. Salisbury leads the all-time series 17-14-1 and has won eight consecutive meetings, including a 31-28 victory in the teams’ 2025 matchup in Glassboro.

Salisbury averages 256.8 rushing yards per game and has scored 14 rushing touchdowns compared with five passing touchdowns. Rowan has allowed 64 rushing yards through four games and 799 total yards overall.

Rowan’s passing attack will face a Salisbury secondary that has allowed 479 passing yards through four games. Senior defensive back Kam Brown leads the Profs with three interceptions and 110 interception-return yards, including two touchdowns. Brown tied a Rowan program single-game record with three interceptions against Vermont State Castleton.

Salisbury has not lost a turnover this season, while Rowan has lost six turnovers. Rowan has also recorded four interceptions and three fumble recoveries.
