Navy Bests Lafayette, 12-7, in Men’s LAX

The Navy men’s lacrosse team jumped to an early lead and held on for a 12-7 victory over Lafayette. The Saturday afternoon match in Easton, PA. was the Midshipmen’s first road game of the year.

With the win, the #20-ranked Midshipmen improved their record to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Meanwhile, the loss dropped the Leopards to 4-3 this season and 0-2 in Patriot League matchups.

Navy meant business from the start. Leaping to an early lead, the Mids took a 5-2 advantage into the start of the second period and an 8-2 lead into the third. Despite Lafayette rallying to outscore Navy in the fourth quarter, 4-2, the Mids never allowed the Leopards to really get close the entire afternoon.

Ryan Wade, Navy senior midfielder, extended his scoring streak to 30 games with three points on one goal and two assists against Lafayette. Christian Daniel, the Mids’ sophomore attackman, lengthened his goal-scoring streak to 17 by scoring three goals. First year attackmen, Nick Cole and Jack Sweeney, each added four points to the Navy winning effort.

For Lafayette, Connar Dehnert led the Leopard offense with three points on two goals and one assist. Conor Walters contributed two goals, while Zane Crandall, Andrew Robbins and Bryan Hess each scored one point in the loss.

Up next, Lafayette will host Cleveland State on March 12th. Navy heads to Baltimore on the 16th to take on Loyola Maryland. (For a complete Navy schedule, please, click here.)
