Nats Trade Tanner Roark to Reds
Next time Nats fans see Tanner Roark, he’ll be wearing a Cincinnati Reds uniform. The Nationals have traded him to the Reds for minor league prospect Tanner Rainey, a 25-year old relief pitcher.
Rainey last year played primarily for the Reds’ Triple-A affiliate, the Louisville Bats. He did have 8 appearances with the Reds, however, last year. Rainey did have 7 innings pitched, but gave up 4 homers, walked 12 and only struck out seven.
Last season, Roark had a very poor and painful start to the season, but a second half of 2018 where he was phenomenal is why he ended with the stats he did in 2018. He finished the season with a 4.30 ERA and a 9-15 record.
This trade is in response of the signing of Patrick Corbin. Because of Patrick Corbin’s acquisition, it was obvious Roark would become the fourth, or he would be traded. He has been traded.
Tanner spent the last six seasons with the Nats.
