Nats’ Murphy Getting Closer to Return

While Nationals’ All-Star second baseman Daniel Murphy has been out the entire season thus far, he looks closer than ever to returning. He has been playing minor league games, and seems rusty (4-17 with a home run in double-A), but will be evaluated on Monday and could be activated on Tuesday.

In Murphy’s absence, Wilmer Difo has been playing more or less well. He is hitting .253 with an OBP of .329 and three home runs. While above average stats for a bottom-of-the-lineup, defensive minded player, The Nationals will look forward to having Murphy’s middle-of-the-lineup contact and power abilities.
