Nats Lose to Braves, Fall Out Of First Place
With the Nationals 4-2 loss yesterday, they broke their road win streak and fell out of first place. They now trail the Braves by 0.5 games.
Tanner Roark was on the hill yesterday, and allowed four runs (all earned) over 6.2 innings pitched. Tim Collins and Wander Suero also pitched and each allowed no runs. Collins faced only one batter and walked him on four pitches before Suero came in to pitch 1.1 innings. The Nationals offense was led by Anthony Rendon, who was their only player with multiple hits and had the Nats’ only two RBIs.
For the Braves, Sean Newcomb pitched 7.0 innings, allowing two runs (both earned). Daniel Winkler and Arodys Vizcaino both allowed zero runs out of the bullpen. The Braves offense was led by the top of their lineup. Ender Inciarte and Ozzie Albies had two hits each and each scored a run.
The Nats look to re-take first place as they play the Braves again tonight in Atlanta at 7:35. Steven Strasburg will be on the mound for the Nats and the Braves will likely throw Mike Foltynewicz.
