Nationals TV Broadcasting Team For 2019

On Thursday, the Nationals announced a few changes in their broadcast team for 2019. Bob Carpenter returns for his 13th season with the Nationals, doing play-by-play, with Dave Jageler now being the new alternate in case Carp isn’t available.

Most Nats fans are probably not going to be happy to hear this, but F.P. Santangelo is returning as the color commentator, making this his ninth season with the Nationals. Former Nats All-Star Michael Morse is his backup. Morse also did a few games last season during a series in Toronto.

But here are the changes: the biggest one is Johnny Holliday. He is stepping away from his duties after being with the club the past eleven seasons. This means an all new look at Nats Xtra.

So who are the new hosts? On Thursday, it was announced that on-field reporter Dan Kolko will be taking over Holliday’s role. He did host some pregame and postgame shows, but now he will be doing this full time. Taking Ray Knight’s spot (the one Kolko took last season) is former Nats third base coach Bo Porter. Porter will be the analyst of this team.

Replacing Kolko as the on-field reporter is Alex Chappell. Chappell is a McLean, Virginia native. Her resume is pretty good seeing as she has covered college football for ESPN and on the SEC Network since 2016. She was also the on-field reporter for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2017.
