Nationals Trade Relief Pitcher Ryan Madson

The Washington Nationals have traded Relief Pitcher Ryan Madson to the Los Angeles Dodgers for RHP Andrew Istler. This is not a surprise that the Nats decided to trade Madson, as they have been in trade talks with several teams for him and LHP Gio Gonzalez. Washington’s dreadful season continues as they stand at a 67-67 win-loss record with high expectations coming into the season.

During Madson’s stint with Washington, he posted a 1.37 ERA in 2017, and currently holds a 5.28 ERA in 2018. Additionally, Madson threw for a combined 126 strikeouts through the two seasons. Career wise, Madson holds a record of 61-48, an ERA of 3.45, and has tossed 762 strikeouts.

As for RHP Andrew Istler, he has recorded a 4-4 record with a 2.37 ERA through the minors this season. Through his career, Istler is 10-11 with an ERA of 3.65. Overall, the Nats look to turn Istler into a solid pitcher while losing a veteran that would’ve likely not resigned with the Nats.
