Nationals lose to the Phillies 4-2,

The Washington Nationals lost the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday evening in regular season action. The Nats’ current record currently stands at 13-18. The Phillies move to 18-13.

Jeremy Hellickson pitched a very strong five innings for Washington. Hellickson allowed 4 hits and 9 strikeouts while pitching. Dan Jennings a relief pitcher allowed 1 hit and 1 strikeout.

Offensively the long ball ruled for Washington. At the top of the third inning, third baseman Howie Kendrick singled to the center, Jeremy Hellickson scored, Adam Eaton to third. In the top of the sixth inning, catcher Kurt Suzuki homered to the left.

The Nationals play the second game of the series at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia at 7;05pm. Pitching for the Nationals will be Patrick Corbin.
