Nationals lose to Cardinals 4-2; recap 9/16/19

The Washington Nationals lost to the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday evening at Busch stadium. The Nationals’ record currently stands at 82-67. The Cardinals move to 84-66.

Stephen Strasburg pitched a very strong five innings for Washington. Strasburg allowed three hits and six strikeouts while pitching. Tanner Rainey allowed one hit and two strikeouts in relief for Washington.

In the top of the fourth, center fielder Victor Robles singled to left, Soto scored, Zimmerman to second, Cabrera out at home.

Additionally, at the top of the sixth, third baseman Anthony Rendon homered to left (319 feet).

With a loss to the Cardinals, the Nationals play game two of the series tomorrow at 7:45pm. Pitching for the Nationals is Patrick Corbin.
