Nationals lose to Braves 7-1: Recap 7/21/19

The Washington Nationals lost to the Atlanta Braves on Sunday evening on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball at SunTrust Park in regular season action. The Nationals record currently stands at 52-46. The Braves move to 60-41.

Joe Ross struggled pitching for Washington. Ross allowed eight hits and six strikeouts for Washington. Tony Sipp allowed zero hits and one strikeout in relief for Washington.

In the top of the second inning, Ryan Zimmerman left the game early due to pain related to the plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Matt Adams replaced him as the first baseman.

In the top of the eighth inning, pitch hitter Gerardo Parra singles on a fly ball to shortstop Dansby Swanson, deflected by left fielder Ronald Acuna. Brian Dozier scored, catcher Kurt Suzuki to second.

With a loss to the Braves, the Nationals head back home for a four game series with the Colorado Rockies starting tomorrow night at 7:05pm. Pitching for the Nationals will be Erick Fedde.
