Nationals defeat Mets 5-1: Recap 5/15/19

The Washington Nationals beat the New York Mets on Wednesday evening at Nationals Park in regular season action. The Nats record currently stands at 17-25. The Mets drop to 20-21.

Patrick Corbin pitched a very strong eight innings for Washington. Corbin allowed four hits and 11 strikeouts. Sean Doolittle allowed no hits and two strikeouts.

In the bottom of the first inning, third baseman Anthony Rendon hit a ground-rule double to deep center, scoring Adam Eaton and advancing Victor Robles to third. Also in the first inning, Juan Soto grounded out to short, scoring Robles from third. Later in the inning, Howie Kendrick singled to center, scoring Rendon and giving the Nats an early 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third, Victor Robles hit a solo homer to deep center, adding to the Nats lead. Howie Kendrick would double to center, giving the Nats a 5-1 lead .

With a win over the Mets, the Nats look to sweep the series tomorrow at 1:05 PM at Nationals Park.
