Nationals beats Phillies in Game 1 of the double header recap 9/24/19

The Washington Nationals beat the Philadelphia Phillies Tuesday afternoon at Nationals Park. The Nationals’ record currently stands at 87-69. The Phillies drop to 79-77.

Joe Ross pitched a very strong four innings for Washington. Allowing five hits and four strikeouts while pitching. Tanner Rainey allowed zero hits and two strikeouts in relief for Washington.

During the bottom of the fourth inning, third baseman Anthony Rendon hit sacrafice fly to center, Turner scored.

Also, in the bottom of the sixth, Rendon hit sacrifice fly to right, Turner scored, Eaton to third. Lastly, Ryan Zimmerman singled to rght, Eaton scored.

With a win over the Phillies, the Nationals play game two with the ace Max Scherzer on the mound at 7:05pm.
