Powell averaged 9.9 points per game in conference play and scored a career-high 28 points in a win over Sacred Heart. Additionally, she averaged 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest.
Fairfield Leads Metro Preseason Poll
Fairfield was the unanimous selection to repeat as conference champion. Siena followed in second place, with Sacred Heart third and Iona fourth.
Mount St. Mary’s placed fifth with 108 points. The remaining teams in the poll were Quinnipiac, Marist, Manhattan, Merrimack, Saint Peter’s, Rider, Canisius and Niagara.
Mount St. Mary’s Women’s Basketball Opens Against Navy
Mount St. Mary’s will open its season with a home game against Navy on Nov. 2. The game will be the women’s basketball team’s first contest following the preseason poll announcement.
