Mount St. Mary’s University men’s basketball junior guard Abdou Khadre Kebe earned unanimous selection to the Preseason All-Metro First Team from the league’s head coaches. The Mountaineers were picked to finish eighth in the 2026 Metro Men’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll with 89 points.
Abdou Khadre Kebe earns preseason recognition
Kebe averaged 7.7 points and 5.6 rebounds last season while starting 13 of 22 games. He also was selected to the MAAC All-Defensive team.
He averaged 11.2 points and 9.9 rebounds during a six-game stretch from late January to mid-February. Kebe scored in double figures seven times and posted three double-figure rebound games, including a career-high 16 rebounds in Mount St. Mary’s win over Iona.
Mount St. Mary’s picked eighth in Metro poll
The Mountaineers received 89 points in the preseason coaches’ poll, which includes 13 teams. Fairfield led the poll with 154 points, followed by Merrimack with 148 and Siena with 132.
Mount St. Mary’s finished 15-17 overall and 11-9 in league play last season. The team earned the No. 6 seed in the conference tournament before losing to eventual champion Siena, 63-58, in the quarterfinal round.
2026-27 men’s basketball schedule
Mount St. Mary’s will open the season with a home exhibition game against Navy on Wednesday, October 28, at 7 p.m. The first regular-season game is at Xavier on Monday, November 2.
