Mount Saint Mary’s Coasts by York College (PA)
Last night at Knott Arena in Emmitsburg, MD, the Mountaineers faced off against York College (PA). This was the first meeting between the schools since 1982, and coming into this game the Mount had an 8-0 all-time record against York. Yesterday’s game marked the Mount’s first home appearance of the season, and along with that, they unveiled their 2016-2017 NEC championship banner in Knott Arena. The Mountaineers never trailed in the game, they were carried by star man Junior Robinson who scored his season-high twenty-seven points; but not to be outdone. Jonah Antonio and Donald Carey both posted their first career double-doubles. Antonio ended the game with twenty-three points and added ten rebounds, while Carey scored eleven points and an impressive twelve assists. The Mount shot 45.5% percent from the field, but they are still very vulnerable to turnovers; 16 to be exact. The game ended with a score of 91-80, and the Mount was able to secure their second win of the young season. The Mountaineers next game is against the Ohio Bobcats, and with what looks to be another loss for the Mount, in order to stay in the game they must keep their turnovers to a minimum; that exact game is set to take place on 11/24 in Athens, Ohio.
- Extra Notes- Senior Junior Robinson was named co-player of the week for the NEC during the week of 11/13-11/20. This was the first time since 2013 that the Mount has won two games in a row in the month of November. That was also the same year the Mount would go on to win the NEC championship.
