Morsell Named BIG Freshman Player of the Week

Maryland guard Darryl Morsell was named the Big Ten Freshman Player of the Week for his contributions in the wins over Butler and Bucknell.  Morsell averaged 14 points and 1.5 steals in the Terrapin victories while shooting 60% from the field.

Morsell was the key man in the 15 point comeback over Bucknell on Friday night, scoring 12 of his 15 in the second half and scoring 8 of Maryland’s first 10 to start the final period.  Morsell also slowed down Bucknell’s Zach Thomas, who was averaging 20+ ppg on the season.

Justin Jackson was the last Terrapin to win the award, as he won on January 23 of last season.
