Morgan looks to break 3 game losing streak vs Yale

Morgan State Bears lost to Albany Great Danes last Saturday in double overtime 23-17. Tomorrow, the Bears travel to New Haven, Conn., in hopes of breaking their three-game losing streak against Yale Bulldogs in the NAACP Harmony Classic.

Yale has started this season 0-2, losing 24-49 to Holy Cross and 23-21 against Cornell. 

This Yale offense feeds off their ground game where they average 199 yards per game to this point. The Bulldogs are led by reigning Ivy League Player of the Year Nolan Grooms. Grooms has 241 passing yards, two interceptions, and an interception. He is also the Bulldogs’ leading rusher with 144 yards. 

The Bears’ offense last game was in the hands of Sophomore quarterback Dominique Anthony who had his first colligate start last Saturday. He was also the first quarterback to start and finish a game for Morgan this season. Anthony finished going 17 of 37, 136 yards and two total touchdowns. Senior receiver Treveyon Pratt had a decent game as well finishing with four catches and 68 yards. 

The Morgan defense came to play through four quarters holding the Great Danes to 10 points in regulation and 244 yards after overtime. Junior linebacker Erick, Hunter, Junior defensive lineman Elijah Williams, and Senior defensive back Jordan Toles lead this defense. This defense only has given up 19 points per game so far this season and 282.2 yards per game. 

The Bears will play the Bulldogs this Saturday, September 30th at the Yale Bowl and are scheduled to kickoff at 1 p.m.
