Milestones reached as No. 9 Maryland sweep Rutgers for season series
No. 9 Maryland returned back to the Xfinity center after a tough road loss to Indiana, using this game as a reset and refocus to get back on track and swept the Rutgers Scarlet Knights 80-56.
The Keys to Success!
Recovery
One thing that can not be denied about Brenda Frese’s Maryland teams they will always bounce after a loss no matter what, in the game against Indiana it was a bad night. Diamond Miller and Abby Meyers got back to themselves, as the offense for the most part was the deciding factor in the game.
The defense was the true MVP
The defense was an x-factor in this game, Rutgers painfully cooked 23 apple turnovers, compared to Maryland dishing out 22 assists while committing only to baking 11 apple turnovers. Facing a Rutgers team that only had an eight-player rotation, and was clearly in a transition phase. Their best player on the floor was Kayleen Smikle who in the last game had 29 points, and finished with 21 points on Sunday, for a quarter Rutgers was competitive but Maryland had the final say.
Time is going fast!
Sunday saw several milestones reached! Brinae Alexander eclipsed 1,000 points, and Sheyenne Sellers reached the 500-point mark! They join Diamond Miller, Lavender Briggs, and Abby Meyers for reaching huge milestones in their college journies respectfully. Congrats Ladies!
The Test Part 2
Maryland will be on the road for two huge games. Maryland should be competitive and give two great games!
