Meet the newest DC Defenders quarterback

The XFL Draft is underway and yesterday the DC Defenders announced who their pre selected quarterback is. His name is Eric Dungey who comes from Syracuse University.

“We are very excited to add Eric as a true dual threat for the Defenders. Eric has the ability to affect the game not just with his arm but with his mobility and running ability which gives us even more options on offense,” said Defenders head coach Reggie Barlow.

Dungey was part of the Orange from 2015 to 2018. He made 38 starts and threw for 9,340 yards and 58 touchdowns on a 61.5 percent completion percentage. He was a captain for Syracuse for two years and won their Male Athlete fo the year year in 2018-19. He finished his career as one of five ACC quarterbacks with 11,000 passing yards and 90 touchdowns all time.

He signed with the NFL’s New York Giants as a free agent in 2019 but was waived that July. He also appeared for brief stints with the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals. Now he gets a chance to shine on the XFL stage for the Defenders.
