LEXINGTON, Ky. The McDaniel College women’s volleyball team has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 10th consecutive year, underscoring their sustained commitment to academic achievement alongside athletic competition.
Consistent Academic Excellence over a Decade
The Green Terror women’s volleyball program has been recognized with the AVCA Team Academic Award in 12 of the last 13 seasons, including every year since 2017. This award is reserved for programs maintaining a strong academic record, cementing McDaniel College’s standing as a leader in balancing sports and studies.
Criteria for the AVCA Team Academic Award
To qualify for the AVCA Team Academic Award, a team must maintain a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale throughout the academic year. The Green Terror have consistently achieved or surpassed this standard during their recent string of honors.
Between 2019 and 2022, McDaniel additionally earned a place on the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, which designates the top 20 percent of programs with the highest GPAs in their division.
