McDaniel College women’s soccer extended its unbeaten start to three games with a 0-0 tie against St. Mary’s (MD) on Saturday, Sept. 5, at Jamie L. Roberts Stadium in St. Mary’s City, Maryland. The result closed the Seahawk Classic and moved McDaniel College to 1-0-2 to begin the 2026 season.
Sophomore Sierra Ruehl earned her third career shutout as McDaniel posted its second consecutive shutout. The result also extended McDaniel’s defensive scoreless streak to 197:10.
McDaniel College Women’s Soccer Holds Offensive Advantage
McDaniel controlled the match with a 21-5 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in penalty corners. The Green Terror recorded 11 shots on goal, while St. Mary’s (MD) did not put a shot on target.
St. Mary’s (MD) goalkeeper Breanna Brown made eight saves, and St. Mary’s defenders added three team saves. McDaniel totaled 11 shots in the first half and 10 in the second, when it also held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior captain Alexis Keller-Posen led a McDaniel defense that limited St. Mary’s (MD) to five shots. St. Mary’s (MD)’s record moved to 1-1-1.

The tie moved McDaniel’s record against St. Mary’s (MD) to 4-2-3 since 2010 and 1-2-2 in five road meetings. The match marked McDaniel’s third consecutive road contest and its third straight meeting against a team from Maryland.
McDaniel College women’s soccer will make its home debut Wednesday against Hood. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Soccer Complex.
