Maryland Tops Villanova 38-20

The Maryland Terrapins have improved to 3-1 with an expected win over the Villanova Wildcats on Saturday afternoon.

Maryland’s offense struck early, with touchdowns from Kaden Prather and Roman Hemby setting the tone in the first quarter. Hemby, despite having a slow start to the 2024 season, was able to contribute a total of 82 yards for the game between carrying and receiving. Fellow Maryland running back Nolan Ray was able to tack on another touchdown in the second quarter. The score was 24-0 going into the half.

In the third quarter, Billy Edwards Jr. threw a touchdown to receiver Tai Felton, who has remained dominant for the Terps in 2024. This is Felton’s fourth week with at least 100 yards, a receiving stat that has not been repeated since 1994. Villanova followed up with a touchdown and field goal of their own.

The Terrapins tacked on a MJ Morris touchdown in the fourth quarter, with the game ending at a comfortable 38-20. Villanova may look to be an easy win for the Terrapins, but they are still ranked fifth overall in the FCS, which led to their offense still managing to put up 20. Despite this, Maryland’s defense held them to just 156 passing yards, with a complete shutout in the first half. Billy Edwards Jr. also threw for an impressive 88% passing rate, leading the Terrapins to their 15th non-conference win in a row.

Maryland hopes to pick up their fourth win for the season on the road against undefeated Indiana next Saturday.
