Maryland-Temple Preview

The Maryland Terrapins (2-0) will host the Temple Owls (0-2) in College Park. Maryland is currently a 17 point favorite to win.

Last week the Terps defeated Bowling Green 45-14 to remain undefeated on the season. Maryland started slowly but used a lethal rushing attack to take over the game after halftime, out-gaining the Falcons on the ground by 429 yards. After a convincing first two games, Matt Canada’s squad is receiving some national attention, and a convincing win against an FBS team like Temple would likely garner more top-25 votes this week.

Temple comes into the matchup limping. The Owls lost their previous two games to open the season despite being serious favorites going into both matchups. Despite the early struggles, Temple will probably bring their A-game after an undeniably embarrassing start to the season.

Maryland’s Ty Johnson will look to have a field day against a sub-par rushing defense after rebounding last week from his disappointing performance against Texas. Aside from Johnson, Canada will probably stick to the game plan of heavily involving all skill position players in the run game given the Owls’ recent inability to stop any ground game.

I fully expect another win by multiple scores for Maryland this week. The Terps are playing well and maximizing the talent on their roster, which is better overall than the Owls’ in the first place. The game kicks off at noon tomorrow on Big Tan Network.
