Maryland defeated Navy, 14-9.

Maryland continued their undefeated season as they beat Navy, 14-9, in men’s lacrosse Saturday afternoon in Annapolis.

With the win, the Terrapins will take a 5-0 record on the road to Notre Dame next Sunday. The defeat was the Midshipmen’s first of the year. Next weekend, Navy will start Patriot League play with a visit from Bucknell.

Saturday’s contest started out slow, both teams struggling to get their offenses rolling. Navy was the first to break out, taking a slim 3-2 lead out of the first quarter.

Fortunes turned in the second.  Ryan Kern, Navy’s junior goalkeeper, had a rough 15 minutes, allowing five goals in the quarter. Maryland had claimed a 7-4 lead as the teams went to the lockers for halftime.

Navy played tough in the third quarter, shrinking the Terps lead to 10-8 going into the fourth. However, Maryland’s senior goalkeeper, Danny Dolan, made a couple of crucial stops as the Terps’ defense came on strong in the last quarter. Navy only managed one goal to counter Maryland final four points.

Louis Dubick, the Terrapins’ senior attackman, had a career day, scoring five goals. Logan Wisnauskas (sophomore midfielder) and Jared Bernhardt (junior attackman) added three goals each to Maryland’s winning effort.

On the Navy side, attackmen Nick Cole (freshman) and Christian Daniel (sophomore) each contributed three goals. Greyson Torain (senior midfielder) added another two.
