Maryland Lacrosse Ready To Battle In Ann Arbor

The #2 Maryland Terrapins are headed to Ann Arbor, Mich. this Saturday for a matchup with the #15 Michigan Wolverines to kick off conference play.

After a convincing 11-7 win in the Pacific Coast Shootout over the now unranked North Carolina Tar Heels, the Terrapins are ready to carry their seemingly unbreakable momentum into their Big Ten schedule. Maryland’s only loss so far this season came against the #1 Albany Great Danes, who are still undefeated in their 2018 campaign.

Senior midfielder Connor Kelly continued to dominate in the victory over North Carolina, scoring four goals and increasing his total season goals to 22. Kelly scores an average of 2.75 goals per game, which is tied for 18th in all of NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse.

The #15 Michigan Wolverines look to continue their ferocious winning streak against the Terrapins, as a win over Maryland would be the Wolverines’ sixth consecutive victory after starting the season with a 2-2 record. The Wolverines are 1-2 against ranked teams so far this season.

The Wolverines were in the Old Line State just last week for a game against the UMBC Retrievers. Michigan prevailed 9-6 in that matchup thanks to four goals from junior midfielder Brent Noseworthy. Freshman attackman Alex Buckanavage, a Ridgefield, Conn. native, also contributed to the Wolverines’ winning effort with two goals and two assists on the day.

The game between #2 Maryland and #15 Michigan will begin at noon on Saturday, March 31 and will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
