Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association Football Roundup: St. Mary’s and Gilman Gain Ground

St. Mary’s and Gilman improved their Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association football records with victories over Mount St. Joseph and Loyola Blakefield, respectively. St. Mary’s improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play after defeating Mount St. Joseph, 27-20, in overtime. St. Mary’s sits in third place in the league standings and is in the middle of a three-game homestand, with Calvert Hall visiting Friday and Gilman scheduled to visit the following week.

Mount St. Joseph suffered its third consecutive league loss after opening the season with three straight nonconference victories.

Gilman earns first league win

Gilman improved to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play after defeating previously unbeaten Loyola Blakefield, 28-20. Loyola Blakefield entered the game 4-1 overall, and the contest marked its first league game of the season.

Gilman will host Mount St. Joseph this week. Loyola Blakefield will visit Concordia Prep on Saturday, while Calvert Hall will visit St. Mary’s on Friday.

Archbishop Spalding and McDonogh lead A Conference

Archbishop Spalding is 4-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play, while McDonogh is 6-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The teams have met in the previous four A Conference championship games, with Archbishop Spalding winning each one.

Archbishop Spalding defeated Concordia Prep, 27-0, last week and has allowed seven points in its last three contests. McDonogh defeated Calvert Hall, 24-10, and remains the last undefeated team in the A Conference.

Calvert Hall is 2-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Calvert Hall and Loyola Blakefield have one fewer league game than every other team because of their Thanksgiving Turkey Bowl contest.

Concordia Prep is 3-2 overall and 1-2 in conference play after losing to Archbishop Spalding last week. Concordia Prep will host Loyola Blakefield on Saturday.

John Carroll leads B Conference

John Carroll leads the B Conference with a 5-2 overall record and a 3-0 conference record after defeating Mount Carmel, 28-21, last week. John Carroll will visit St. Vincent Pallotti this week.

Archbishop Curley is 2-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play after defeating Annapolis Area Christian School. Archbishop Curley will visit The Boys’ Latin School of Maryland.

The Boys’ Latin School of Maryland is 3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play after losing to Severn, 19-17. Severn is 4-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play and sits in third place in the B Conference.

St. Paul’s defeated St. Vincent Pallotti, 18-0, for its first win of 2026. St. Paul’s is 1-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while Annapolis Area Christian School is 0-6 overall and 0-4 in conference play. St. Vincent Pallotti is 0-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
