Mark Trumbo returns to lineup

Mark Trumbo is set to see his first action in Spring Training this afternoon when the Baltimore Orioles take on the Toronto Blue Jays at Ed Smith Stadium.

Following a season ending knee surgery last August, Trumbo has taken things slow making sure his knee is ready. Despite not working in the field, Trumbo said he is eager to join the young core of guys he has seen play and grow the last two weeks.

Although this is the first live game Trumbo will see this spring, he has taken a lot of live batting practice off of Orioles pitchers Alex Cobb and Dylan Bundy.

At this point for Mark Trumbo, there’s nothing better to gauge the position he is in than getting into real live game action.

Orioles Manager Brandon Hyde said that Mark Trumbo not playing defense yet will not deter him from being in the opening day lineup. While more time than two weeks would be better for Trumbo, coming out of camp healthy as the DH is ideal.

Trumbo is scheduled to play as the DH on Wednesday, hoping to get a couple good at bats while being given the day off again Thursday.

What do we expect to see out of Mark Trumbo in his first start? Manager Brandon Hyde said “I just want him to be healthy and he can hit and when his knee feels good, we can consider him in the field at that time.”

Don’t miss Mark Trumbo’s return with the Baltimore Orioles, Wednesday at 1:05 pm as they take on the Toronto Blue Jays.
