Making History Like A Boss One Hug At A Time

WWE history was made last night in Houston inside the Elimination Chamber. Capturing a surreal moment seized by a boss and a hug. Sasha Banks and Bayley better known as “The Boss & Hug Connection” became the first ever WWE Women’s tag team champions. Wrestling fans have waited for this moment a long time. When that time finally came last night the arena erupted in cheers and tears of joy.

Sasha Banks and Bayley have had a tumultuous relationship over the years. Best friends to bitter enemies to best friends again. Apparently sometimes you just have to hug it out like a boss. Banks vs Bayley won the NXT match of the year and title feud of the year in 2015 (by Rolling Stone) during a run of bad blood. Both Women are former NXT Women’s champion and RAW Women’s champion. Now they can add their history making inaugural WWE Women’s tag team championship to the list.

Devil’s playground was turned into a brutal battleground last night. Before history could be made some steep prices had to be paid by all. Naomi and Carmella were the first to be eliminated as Team “Fabulous Glow” was a no go. Followed by the “Riott Squad” Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan and the “Iconics” Peyton Royce and Billie Kay. Nia Jaz went face first through one of the chamber pods leaving her partner Tamina Snuka to take the pin as they were eliminated. Leaving only the team of “Fire and Desire” Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose standing in the way of the “Boss & Hug Connection”. What happened next was nothing short of magical as these final four Women fought with all their hearts and souls. Sonya Deville went to finish Banks with a spear but the boss sidestepped and Mandy Rose caught friendly fire. Sasha then applied a version of her patented Banks statement submission on Sonya to win the titles.

Wrestling fans went crazy as their heroes stole the show and laid claim to the gold. History was made at that moment and all it took was a Boss and a Hug. Well and 10 other driven Women working their butts off for the fans. Emotions ran high and you could see they were genuine. Bayley and Banks had been a huge part of the Women’s movement in pro wrestling. From having main event roles in what was once an all male sport, to having a Women’s only pay per view. Blood sweat and tears have paved the road all these Women are on. Barriers continue to be broken and walls continue to fall. “These times, oh how they are a changing” is an apropos statement. Change can sometimes be good and this one was great. Welcome to the Women’s evolution.
