Major Investment Expected At D.C United As Billionaire Soon Shijong Set To Buy Club

D.C United fans are about to see their team become one of the most expensive franchise in the Major League Soccer. The news is that American Billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong is in advanced negotiation to buy the club. The amount being quoted is in the region of $500million. Forbes magazine valued D.C United at around $230Million last season, while Los Angeles Galaxy were listed as the most valuable club estimated at around $315 Million .

If the takeover by Patrick Soon-Shiong becomes successful, probably by the end of June, the deal should see D.C United become the most valuable club in the league. The price being quoted ($500million) may seem outrageous to many, but it is most likely the majority of this amount is down to the new stadium being built by the club (The Audi Field stadium), which is expected to be completed by the end of July.

This bit of news should come as a relief for the supporters of the Black and Reds who are yet to see their team record a single win this season after five games. In fact, the club are yet to win in their last eleven MLS matches. However, with the possibility of a new take-over in place all that could be a thing of the past with quality investment inform of player signings made into the club.
