Lambeau Leapt. Redskins Pummel Packers 31-17

The Washington Redskins needed to make a statement today against the Green Bay Packers, and they did exactly that.

Washington wasted no time jumping in front, striking on the opening drive on a 46 yard pass from Alex Smith to Paul Richardson to take a 7-0 lead. Redskins then doubled this lead on a 2 yard run by Adrian Peterson to take a 14-0 lead through one quarter. With the Redskins leading 21-10, the Packers began their comeback attempt with a 64 yard pass from Aaron Rodgers to Geronimo Allison to draw within 11 at 21-10. Washington quickly answered with another 2 yard touchdown run by Peterson to take a 28-10 lead into halftime. The Redskins stopped any and all Packer comeback attempts today en route to a 31-17 victory to improve to 2-1 on the season.

Alex Smith had his best game as a Redskin, going 12-20 for 220 yards, 2 TDs, and an INT that fortunately did not lead to any Packer points. Adrian Peterson had another solid game with 19 carries for 120 yards and 2 TDs. The statement has been made.

Redskins will head to the bye week, their next game will be October 8 against the Saints in New Orleans.
