Kwame Lloyd Will Resign After 2026 Season as Salisbury University Women’s Soccer Head Coach

Kwame Lloyd will resign after the 2026 season as Salisbury University women’s soccer head coach, the university announced Oct. 22. Lloyd is the third head coach in program history and has guided the Sea Gulls to 107 wins during 14 years at the helm.

“After much thought and consideration, I’ve decided to step away from my current role to pursue new opportunities for our family,” Lloyd said. “While this was not an easy decision, we are excited about what lies ahead, both personally and professionally.”

Kwame Lloyd’s Salisbury University women’s soccer tenure

Lloyd recorded at least 10 wins five times during his tenure and earned Capital Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2014 and 2019. In 2019, he led Salisbury to a 14-game unbeaten streak from Sept. 11 through Oct. 30.

Salisbury did not miss a conference tournament during Lloyd’s tenure. He coached five all-region selections, one Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year, one C2C Rookie of the Year, two C2C Scholar-Athletes of the Year and 58 all-conference selections.

National search to begin after 2026 season

Salisbury University Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation Monica Polizzi thanked Lloyd for more than a decade of leadership and service. She said Lloyd encouraged his student-athletes to become leaders on campus and in the community while emphasizing service, academic achievement and personal growth.

“We would like to thank Coach Lloyd for more than a decade of dedicated leadership and service to our university,” Polizzi said. “Throughout his tenure, he has embodied what it means to be a Sea Gull, both on and off the pitch. He has consistently encouraged his student-athletes to be leaders on campus and in our community, while emphasizing the importance of service, academic achievement, and personal growth. We are grateful for the lasting impact he has made on our student-athletes and the Salisbury University community, and we wish Coach Lloyd and his family nothing but the very best in their next chapter.”

A national search for a new head coach will begin at the conclusion of the 2026 season. Salisbury University is an NCAA Division III institution with primary membership in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference.

“I have called the Eastern Shore my home for the past 14 years, and I have been blessed to work at Salisbury University,” Lloyd said. “I am thankful for the opportunities that Salisbury University and the athletic administration have afforded me to impact my teams over the years and the Salisbury community. To my colleagues here at Salisbury University, you will be missed. To my players, present and past, thank you for your support, prayers, and love over the past 14 years. To my family (Julie, Kijana, Jada), thank you for all the sacrifices you make daily to make my career dreams come true! GO GULLS!”
