Justin Houston Returns to Ravens, Signs 1-Year Deal

The Baltimore Ravens and outside linebacker Justin Houston agreed to a one-year deal on Thursday. Houston returns to the Ravens after spending 2021 in Baltimore, becoming one of the Ravens most dependable edge rushers.

Houston enters his 12th season in the NFL coming after a season in which he accumulated 4.5 sacks, 17 quarterback hits, 34 total tackles, 17 of which were tackles for loss. While Houston’s sack numbers were down last season, he did surpass a historic mark as he joined the 100-sack club during a week 10 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

Houston returns to a Ravens defense that looks to improve after a poor 2021 season, specifically in the pass rush department. The Ravens finished the year ranked 22nd in the NFL with 34 sacks .

The re-signing of Houston adds a much needed veteran presence to a young pass rush group. In addition to Houston, the Ravens hope that 2021 first-round pick Odafe Oweh improves upon a strong rookie season in which he recorded five sacks in 15 games. With achilles injuries to Tyus Bowser and 2022 second-round pick David Ojabo, leaving question marks as to when they will return in 2022. Houston will look to have a strong start to the season as the Ravens defense looks to return to its traditional form.
