Johns Hopkins University women’s field hockey fell to second-ranked Salisbury, 4-1, on Sept. 16, 2026, in Baltimore. The fourth-ranked Blue Jays scored first on Ava Zimmerman’s goal with 2:21 remaining in the first half, but Salisbury scored three times in the third quarter to take control.
The loss dropped Johns Hopkins to 3-2 on the season, while Salisbury improved to 5-0. Dakotah Trader scored twice for the Sea Gulls, including the tying and go-ahead goals.
Salisbury Takes Control in the Third Quarter
Johns Hopkins opened the scoring by converting a penalty corner late in the first half. Evie Hamm’s shot off the insert from Sophia Builione was saved by Salisbury defender Regan Nacrelli, but the ball ricocheted to Zimmerman, who knocked it into the open cage.
Salisbury answered 2:51 into the third quarter. Trader tipped in Layla Kent’s shot from the top of the circle to tie the game at 1-1, with Devon DeGregory and Kent credited with assists.
Trader put Salisbury ahead six minutes later by redirecting a centering pass from Alex Kupper. Kent then extended the lead to 3-1 with a shot from just inside the circle off a pass from Ryan Lowe.
Salisbury added its final goal 3:13 into the fourth quarter. Lowe finished a short pass from Kent and scored inside the right post.
Johns Hopkins Holds Edges in Shots and Corners
Johns Hopkins finished with a 9-8 edge in shots and an 8-5 advantage in penalty corners. Maddie Castaneda made one save for Salisbury, while Nacrelli recorded a defensive save on Hamm’s first-half attempt.
Aubrey Kilgore made two saves in three quarters for Johns Hopkins. Jessica Lapidus did not face a shot in the second quarter.

Johns Hopkins will visit 18th-ranked Washington & Lee on Sept. 19, 2026, at noon. The Blue Jays enter the game at 3-2 after Wednesday’s loss.
