Johns Hopkins University men’s tennis finished the UMW Kickoff with a 12-15 singles mark and a 9-4 doubles mark in Fredericksburg, Va. The Blue Jays competed against players from Longwood, George Mason and host Mary Washington during the weekend.
Andy Zhu and Jacob Jiang defeated Mary Washington’s Keldibek Kozhoev and Mei Yecheng in doubles Saturday, losing one game. Danny Greene and Gabe Xu also earned a win Saturday, defeating Ayaan Choudhary and Cooper Lehman of Mary Washington, 7-5.
Johns Hopkins men’s tennis records three Sunday doubles wins
Johns Hopkins added three doubles victories Sunday. Adam Stavrakas and Dylan Blenkiron defeated George Mason’s Deniz Okyay and Shari Saeed, 7-5, while Austin He and Andy Zhu beat Novitski and Joshua Vargas, 6-2. Cole Langer and He also defeated Mary Washington’s Matt Scott and Will Fromherz, 7-5. Those wins contributed to the Blue Jays’ 9-4 doubles mark for the weekend.
Blue Jays scheduled for ITA Southeast Regional
Johns Hopkins is scheduled to return to action Thursday, Oct. 1, at the ITA Southeast Regional in Fredericksburg. The event is the Blue Jays’ next listed competition following the UMW Kickoff.
