The Johns Hopkins University women’s cross country team split its squad between two invitationals on Saturday, October 3, placing third at the Running of the Cows and putting five runners inside the top 20 at Salisbury University’s Don Cathcart Invitational.
Hosted by Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, the Running of the Cows featured 35 teams. Johns Hopkins finished third with 176 points, behind Williams (79 points) and Wisconsin-La Crosse (141 points).
Strong Third-Place Finish at Running of the Cows
Junior Carter Brotherton led Johns Hopkins with a fifth-place finish out of 326 runners, finishing in 21:29.5. Sydney Shock placed 14th with a time of 21:51.3.
Abby Artabane finished 51st in 22:27.0 and was the fifth-fastest freshman. Natalie Boquist placed 53rd in 22:30.2, and Diana Valentini completed the scoring five with a 65th-place finish in 22:36.0.
Five Top-20 Finishes at Don Cathcart Invitational
At Salisbury University’s 38th Don Cathcart Invitational, all five Johns Hopkins runners finished inside the top 20. Junior Storrie Kulynych-Irvin led the group, placing fourth in a field of 87 runners, with a time of 21:38.7.
Evangeline Dunckley followed in sixth place at 21:43.8, Isis Diaz was 11th in 22:02.1, Miriam Rule placed 13th in 22:09.7 as the fifth-fastest freshman, and Sofia Fernandez finished 20th in 22:52.4.
Next Competition Scheduled for October 17
Johns Hopkins will return to competition on Saturday, October 17, at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational held at Gettysburg College.
