Johns Hopkins University Athletics Names Quintan Kilrain 2027 Solo Captain for Johns Hopkins Men’s Lacrosse

Johns Hopkins University Athletics announced Oct. 30, 2026, that defenseman Quintan Kilrain was selected by his teammates to serve as the only captain for Johns Hopkins men’s lacrosse during the 2027 season. Kilrain will hold the role for a second consecutive season under coach Peter Milliman.

The selection makes Kilrain the first two-time individual captain in Johns Hopkins men’s lacrosse program history. He also became the program’s first solo captain since Brendan Kelly held the role in 1989 and the first player in program history to serve as solo captain as a junior.

Quintan Kilrain Earns Second Consecutive Captaincy

Milliman said Kilrain earned the trust and respect of his teammates before and after becoming captain for the 2026 season.

“The trust and respect that Quintan has earned from his teammates both before and since becoming a captain last year is evident in him being selected to serve in this role again. He sets the example in our program as a tireless worker and is not afraid to have difficult conversations and hold each of his teammates accountable to the high standard we have set for the men who are privileged to wear that uniform.”

Kilrain Brings Defensive Experience to 2027 Season

Kilrain has played in 43 games with 39 starts over the last three seasons. He has four career goals, five assists, 78 ground balls and 31 caused turnovers.

Kilrain started 39 consecutive games before suffering a lower leg injury in the Big Ten semifinals during the 2026 season. He missed the Big Ten Championship game and Johns Hopkins’ two NCAA Tournament games after the injury, having recorded two goals, two assists, 17 ground balls and nine caused turnovers before missing the final three games of the season.

A political science major with a minor in business, Kilrain has earned Academic All-Big Ten honors twice. He was also a member of the United States U-20 Team at the 2025 World Championships, where he was named to the All-World Team.
