Johns Hopkins, Maryland Lacrosse Set to Begin Tournament Runs

The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays and Maryland Terrapins will both play in the 2018 NCAA D1 Men’s Lacrosse Tournament following Sunday night’s selection show.

The 5-seed Blue Jays received an automatic bid into the tournament after winning the Big Ten Conference. The 1-seed Terrapins received an at-large bid but remain the tournament’s top seed after a dominant season in which Maryland accumulated the second-most points in all of collegiate men’s lacrosse. The only team that tallied more points than the Terrapins are the Albany Great Danes, who come into the tournament with a 2-seed.

Maryland’s first opponent in the tournament will be either the Canisius Golden Griffins or the Robert Morris Colonials, who will face off in a play-in game for a date with the Terrapins in the first round. Johns Hopkins will take on Georgetown in a battle between two DMV-area schools. Both games will take place on Sunday, May 13. The Terrapins and the Blue Jays will both play at home in the first round.

All first round matchups will be televised on ESPNU.
