Jim Ross signs with AEW

Former WWE announcer, Jim Ross, has officially signed with AEW (All Elite Wrestling). The deal is for three years, according to Sports Illustrated. Ross will be calling the Double or Nothing Pay-Per-View next month on May 25 in Las Vegas. Ross will also serve as a senior advisor for AEW. This is a huge move for the upstart company.

Jim Ross has been the voice of wrestling for many years, especially during the Attitude Era in WWE. He has done work with New Japan Pro Wrestling in recent years. Both him and Josh Barnett called matches on AXS TV for the weekly New Japan program. They called the G1 Special in San Francisco last summer as well.

Ross’ contract recently ran up with WWE. They really have not used him much lately. I had a feeling he would sign with AEW. I wish “Good Ole” J.R. the best! He still has a lot to offer the wrestling business. He will do well in his role with the company.
