Jeremiah Jackson’s seventh-inning homer lifted the Norfolk Tides past the Durham Bulls, 7-4, Sunday at Durham Bulls. The victory gave the Norfolk Tides a 4-2 road series win.
Jackson hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning and added an RBI single in the ninth. Norfolk hit three home runs in the victory, while Durham scored all four of its runs in the fifth inning.
Norfolk Tides Use Three Home Runs to Take the Lead
Payton Eeles opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the fourth inning. It was Eeles’ second home run of the season.
Brandon Butterworth hit his second home run of his Triple-A season in the fifth inning, putting Norfolk ahead 3-0. Durham answered with all four of its runs in the bottom of the fifth and held the lead until Jackson’s three-run homer in the seventh.
Félix Bautista Earns the Win
Félix Bautista pitched a scoreless sixth inning and recorded a strikeout while continuing his Major League Baseball rehabilitation assignment. Bautista earned the win after Jackson put Norfolk ahead in the seventh.
The Norfolk Tides entered the game with a 21-33 record in the current portion of the season and a 49-80 overall record. The Durham Bulls entered with a 32-24 record in the current portion of the season and a 60-71 overall record.
