Jennifer S. Baker, Johns Hopkins’ associate vice provost and director of athletics and recreation, shared a five-year Strategic Priorities plan for Johns Hopkins University Athletics. The plan will guide the University’s Department of Athletics through the 2030-31 academic year and replaces the previous plan developed in 2021.
The announcement took place Sept. 18, 2026, in Baltimore. The plan centers on the department’s stated mission, BE MORE, and outlines four guiding Strategic Priorities.
Johns Hopkins University Athletics identifies four priorities
The four priorities include Competitive Excellence, Scholar-Athlete Experience, Community Building and Enterprise Sustainability. Each priority features points of emphasis designed to support that focus area.
The BE MORE mission consists of three principles: “We Want to Be More … We Demand More of Others … We Become More Together.” The plan uses these principles along with the four Strategic Priorities to define the department’s direction through the 2030-31 academic year.
Five-year plan replaces 2021 document
The new five-year plan, developed in 2026, replaces the previous plan from 2021 and will guide the University’s Department of Athletics through the 2030-31 academic year.
