It Goes Down In The D! Wizards Beat Pistons 122-112
It went down in the D with the Washington Wizards pulling out a win against the Detroit Pistons. The Wizards beat the Pistons 122 to 112
I LOVE the Motor City. Even when things were bad there and the city was facing a lot of hardship, it just had a different vibe. Even the tone of the music on the radio changes as you get closer to the city. I wasn’t there in person, but it was nice to see the new arena. I’ll always remember the Palace fondly, and we’ll always have Malice in the Palace.
Wizards: Beal: 26pts, 3r, 3a, 1stl, 1b; Oubre: 26pts, 5r, 1a; Wall: 16pts, 3r, 11a, 1stl; Porter: 16pts, 7r, 3a, 4stl.
Pistons: Harris: 17pts,3r, 1, 1stl; Kennard: 16pts, 1r, 2a; Bradley: 15pts, 3r, 1a; Drummond: 14pts, 21r, 8a, 2stl, 2b.
This game started off badly for the Wizards. Tobias Harris started like a man on fire and had 9 of the Pistons first 11 points. Before the end of the 1st period Drummond had out rebounded the ENTIRE Wizards team.
Things started to improve in the 2nd with the Wizards outscoring the Pistons at one point by 22-6. I thought Coach Brooks was going to use up all of his time outs before the half.
The Wizards got a better handle on the game after the half. Porter was playing well before the half, and that continued. Oubre really caught fire and had a career scoring night putting up 26 points. He seems to be steadily improving and gaining confidence which is great for the Wizards. Scott and Satoranksy also made some nice plays. Wall already had a double double in the 3rd. At this point I feel that’s almost expected. With greatness comes high expectations.
The 4th period had Morris with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Oubre was really on fire. He was ‘wavey’. The Wizards had the lead by the 4th and though the Pistons were able to reduce it from 20, the Wizards were still able to maintain the lead and take home the win.
