The Howard Community College women’s basketball team opened the 2026-27 season with an 84-22 victory over Tidewater Community College on Oct. 30 in Columbia, Maryland. The win gave new head coach Danielle Durjan her first career victory and improved the Dragons to 1-0.
Howard Community College built a 25-5 lead after the first quarter and extended the advantage to 49-16 by halftime after outscoring Tidewater Community College 24-11 in the second period. The Dragons limited Tidewater to six points over the final two quarters, including one point in the fourth.
Defensive Surge Seals Convincing Victory for Howard Community College Women’s Basketball
Howard finished the game on a 26-1 run in the fourth quarter. The defense forced 21 steals and led to 32 points off turnovers.
The Dragons also collected 47 rebounds, made nine 3-pointers, and shot 42.1 percent from the field. The bench contributed 40 points in the season-opening victory.
Daniya Brown Leads Howard Community College
Daniya Brown led the Dragons with 18 points, including four 3-pointers, six assists, and three steals. Dallis Stewart added 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Quinn Corkeron scored eight points, including one 3-pointer, as Howard completed the 62-point victory.
Howard Community College Hosts Monroe Community College
The Dragons will host Monroe Community College on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, at noon for their second game of the season.
