Howard Community College Men’s Soccer Defeats Carroll Community College 9-0 as Biruk Yitayew Scores Five

Howard Community College Men’s Soccer defeated Carroll Community College 9-0 on Aug. 25, 2026, in its home opener in Columbia, Maryland. Freshman Biruk Yitayew scored five goals as Howard Community College built a 7-0 halftime lead.

Yitayew scored four goals in the first half before adding his fifth in the 59th minute. He finished with 12 shots and nine shots on goal, marking Howard Community College’s most goals by one player in a game since Anderson Marroquin scored seven against Southern Maryland in 2019.

Ethan Quander opened the scoring in the seventh minute, with Eben Koffi providing the assist. Kiar Sani scored twice, receiving assists from Yeabsira Tesfaye and Lucas Britos, while Alonso Aguilar assisted on one of Yitayew’s goals.

Howard Community College Records Shutout

Howard Community College outshot Carroll Community College 37-1 and held an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks. The Dragons also recorded 20 shots on goal, while Carroll Community College had none.

Carson Feeser scored Howard Community College’s ninth goal in the final minute. Alejandro Dealvarez was the goalkeeper as the Dragons completed the 9-0 victory via the mercy rule.

Sani finished with two goals, one assist and three shots. Tesfaye recorded two assists and four shots, while Koffi and Britos each had three shots and one assist.

Howard Community College Men’s Soccer Schedule

Howard Community College is scheduled to face Prince George’s Community College on Aug. 28 at 2:30 p.m. The match will follow the Dragons’ 9-0 home-opening victory over Carroll Community College.
