Hood College Women’s Volleyball Team Falls 3-0 to Gallaudet University as Cam Madden Leads with Seven Kills

FREDERICK, Md. — The Hood College women’s volleyball team lost to Gallaudet University 3-0 Wednesday evening, falling 25-20, 25-17 and 25-17. Cam Madden led Hood College with seven kills, two aces and eight digs.

Gallaudet University Takes Control Late

The Hood College team held a 14-13 lead in the opening set before Gallaudet University moved ahead 22-19. Grace Tamburin gave Hood College a late point with a kill, but Gallaudet scored the final three points to win the set 25-20.

Hood College opened the second set with a 2-0 advantage after a Gallaudet attacking error and a service ace from Maria Ricketts. An ace by Anna Huber helped Hood extend its lead to 8-4, but Gallaudet rallied to tie the set at 11-11 before securing a 25-17 win.

Gallaudet jumped ahead 4-0 in the third set and maintained control. Hood cut the deficit to 24-17 during a late rally, but Brielle Worley ended it with a kill to give Gallaudet a 25-17 set victory and a 3-0 sweep.

Cam Madden Leads Hood College Women’s Volleyball

Madden led Hood College in kills, aces and digs with seven, two and eight, respectively. Janiyah Thornton recorded three blocks, while Ricketts finished with eight assists. Madison Powell and Mary LeBlanc each recorded a kill, and Tamburin added one kill in the opening set.

Gallaudet held advantages in digs and aces, edging Hood 33-28 in digs and 10-7 in aces. Worley led Gallaudet with 20 kills, while Gracie Gloster recorded 31 assists.

Hood College Women’s Volleyball Heads to Buttermaker Tournament

Hood College will travel to Allentown, Pennsylvania, for the Buttermaker Tournament hosted by Muhlenberg College. The team will face Muhlenberg College on Friday, September 11, at 4 p.m., followed by a 6 p.m. match against John Jay College.
