Hood College Women’s Volleyball Team Drops Two Straight-Set Matches in St. Mary’s City

The Hood College women’s volleyball team lost both matches in a tri-match on September 19, 2026, in St. Mary’s City, Maryland. Hood College fell to St. Mary’s College of Maryland, 3-0, before Randolph College earned another 3-0 victory. The results left Hood College at 0-12 overall and 0-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth play.

Hood College Falls to St. Mary’s College of Maryland

St. Mary’s College of Maryland won the opening match by set scores of 25-20, 25-12 and 25-16. Hood College held a 12-8 advantage in the first set and later led 15-13, but the Seahawks rallied to take control. Maya Mauro recorded the set-ending kill in the 25-20 decision.

During the second set, Hood College stayed within reach after Maria Ricketts recorded a kill and Madison Powell added another. St. Mary’s College of Maryland pulled away for a 25-12 win. Randolph College Sweeps Hood College

Randolph College defeated Hood College 25-14, 25-13 and 25-13 in the second match of the tri-match. Hood College trailed 17-8 in the opening set before cutting the deficit to four points, but Randolph College closed out the set 25-14.

The Blazers opened the third set with a 3-0 lead after a Sami Foxie-Fields service ace and moved ahead 5-2 after Foxie-Fields set up Mary LeBlanc for a kill. Randolph College then rallied, took a 14-5 lead, and despite Hood College cutting the margin to 14-8, the Wildcats pulled away again and won the set 25-13.

Grace Tamburin recorded a kill for Hood College in the final set, with Jaylin Anderson providing the assist. Randolph College’s victory completed the straight-set sweep.

Hood College Women’s Volleyball Team Leaders

Mary LeBlanc and Cam Madden led Hood College with 10 kills each. Maria Ricketts recorded 13 assists, while Kendall Massey finished with 16 digs. Janiyah Thornton added three blocks.

Isabelle Garrett recorded a service ace against St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Anna Huber set up a kill against the Seahawks, and Sami Betley recorded a kill against Randolph College. Madison Powell also had a kill against St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

Next Match

Hood College is scheduled to travel to Widener University on Wednesday, September 23, at 7 p.m. The match follows the Blazers’ two losses in St. Mary’s City.
