FREDERICK, Md. — Hood College Women’s Soccer fell 6-0 to No. 6 Messiah on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Thomas Athletic Field in Frederick, Maryland. Addi Martin scored four goals for the Falcons in the win.
The loss dropped Hood to 2-8-1 overall and 0-2 in Middle Atlantic Conference play, while Messiah improved to 7-2-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Messiah held a 32-1 advantage in shots. Haley Gordon recorded Hood’s only shot, while Marlie DeRenzis made six saves for the Blazers.
Messiah Builds Early Lead Against Hood College Women’s Soccer
Messiah opened the scoring after more than 20 minutes when Addi Martin finished a corner-kick opportunity. Brittany Hoffman added another goal shortly afterward, converting a one-on-one chance against DeRenzis to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
The visitors scored twice more within 30 seconds to take a four-goal lead. Martin finished with four goals, and Hannah Lashley recorded two assists for Messiah.
Shayleigh Boyle, Leah Cook, and Ryley Backer helped disrupt Messiah possessions for Hood College Women’s Soccer. However, the Blazers could not overcome Messiah’s offensive pressure, which produced the significant shot advantage.
Hood College Women’s Soccer Visits Albright Next
Hood College Women’s Soccer is scheduled to travel to Reading, Pennsylvania, to face Albright on Saturday, Oct. 10, with kickoff set for 4 p.m. Hood is 4-0-1 in its last five meetings against Albright.
